What is a bonded warehouse and how does it work?

A bonded warehouse (or type C bonded warehouse) is a place where goods from outside the European Union can be stored without immediate payment of customs duties and VAT.
The goods remain "under duty suspension" - they are formally still outside the EU customs territory, but physically already in a warehouse in Poland.

What is the storage of goods in the customs warehouse?

Goods arrive at the warehouse with documents - usually in transit procedure (T1 or CMR)

We register goods in the AIS customs system and warehouse records under customs supervision

Goods are placed in a separate area of the customs warehouse - without paying customs duties and VAT

Once you make a decision, we clear the goods or pass them on - for example, in transit or for re-export.

  • Temporary storage warehouse is a short-term solution - the goods can stay there at most 90 days pending clearance.
  • Customs warehouse (bonded warehouse) There is no time limit - the goods can stay as long as you decide.
