Importing building materials from outside the European Union involves a number of legal requirements and standards that must be met before a product can reach the market. As he explains Marcin Szreder, Head of Alfa Customs Agency<\/strong>, the customs repair procedure for building materials is an opportunity to correct deficiencies in the goods before they reach the market. The process can be divided into several key steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Determination of deficiencies<\/strong> - UCS or another inspection institution (e.g. building supervision) indicates that the goods in question do not meet EU requirements, e.g. there is no CE marking, no instructions in Polish or no rating plate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Decision on corrective procedure<\/strong> - since the deficiencies are correctable, the importer can correct them, but only at the Customs House.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Entry of goods into the customs warehouse<\/strong> - is a necessary step to legally carry out the repair procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Making adjustments<\/strong> - e.g. affixing new labels, adding instructions in Polish, CE marking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. UCS control<\/strong> - verification of the correctness of the changes made.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Marketing authorisation<\/strong> - when everything is compliant, the goods can legally enter the market.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
